Bible Band FAQ

Keep God's Word close — inspired by Deuteronomy 11:18

What Is The Bible Band?

What is The Bible Band?

The Bible Band is a Christian NFC wristband designed to help you keep God's Word close every single day. With one simple tap of your phone, it opens a daily page with Scripture, a pastor-written devotion, guided prayer, audio, large print text, and a free One-Year Bible Reading Plan — no app, no login, no subscription required.

It's not just a bracelet. It's a wearable daily discipleship reminder, inspired by Deuteronomy 11:18 — the ancient call to keep God's Word bound close, carried with you always.

What does The Bible Band include?

Every tap opens a daily page with all of the following:

  • Daily Scripture — A Bible passage selected for that day
  • Pastor-Written Devotion — Written by a real pastor, focused on biblical truth and practical encouragement
  • Guided Prayer — A short prayer prompt to help you talk to God about what you just read
  • Audio — Listen to the devotion read aloud — great for commutes, walks, or morning routines
  • Large Print Text — Easy-to-read option for those who prefer a bigger font
  • Free One-Year Bible Reading Plan — A simple plan to help you read through the Bible consistently

Why is it called The Bible Band?

The name comes from Deuteronomy 11:18, where God tells His people to bind His words on their hands as a reminder to carry truth with them always. The Bible Band is a modern expression of that ancient practice — a wristband that literally connects you to God's Word with a tap.

Is the content written by AI?

No. Every devotion is written by a real pastor — not AI. The content is biblically faithful, theologically grounded, and written with genuine pastoral care. You're getting the same kind of encouragement a pastor would offer in person.

How Does NFC Work?

What is NFC? I've never heard of it.

NFC stands for Near Field Communication. It's the same technology your phone uses for contactless payments like Apple Pay and Google Pay — it's built right into most smartphones made after 2018.

The Bible Band has a tiny NFC chip embedded inside the wristband. The chip has no battery and requires no power on its own. When you hold your phone close to the band, your phone sends out a small radio signal that wakes up the chip, and the chip instantly sends back a signal that opens a web page on your phone. The whole thing takes less than a second.

Think of it like this: your phone knocks, the band answers, and a door opens to today's devotion.

Is NFC safe?

Yes. NFC is a widely used, well-established wireless technology — the same technology used in credit cards, hotel room keys, transit passes, and phone payment systems. It operates at very short range (just a few centimeters) and is considered safe for everyday use. The Bible Band chip only opens a webpage — it doesn't collect data, track your location, or access your phone.

Does The Bible Band have a battery?

No. The NFC chip requires no battery and no power source. It draws a tiny amount of energy from your phone's radio signal when you tap — just enough to send the link to your phone. The chip will never "run out" and never needs to be charged or replaced.

How long will the NFC chip last?

NFC chips are built to last for years of normal use. There's no battery to die and no moving parts to break down. With everyday wear, the chip should continue working reliably for the life of the band.

Compatibility — Does It Work With My Phone?

Does The Bible Band work with iPhone?

Yes. The Bible Band works with iPhone 7 and newer — that covers most iPhones in use today (iPhone 7, 8, X, XS, XR, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 series).

On iPhone XS and newer, NFC is active in the background — no settings change needed. Just tap and go. On iPhone 7 and 8, you may need to open the Control Center and tap the NFC icon first.

Where to tap on iPhone: Hold the top edge of your phone near the NFC chip on The Bible Band.

Does The Bible Band work with Android?

Yes. The Bible Band works with most Android phones made after 2018, including Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Motorola, and others. Most modern Android phones have NFC enabled by default.

Where to tap on Android: Hold the center of the back of your phone near the NFC chip on The Bible Band.

How do I know if my phone has NFC?

  • iPhone: Any iPhone 7 or newer has NFC built in.
  • Android: Go to Settings and search for "NFC." If it appears, your phone has it.
  • You can also Google your phone model followed by "NFC" to confirm.

Do I need to download an app?

No. The Bible Band does not require any app. When you tap the band, your phone automatically opens a web page — just like tapping a link. No App Store. No download. No login. No account required.

Does it require a subscription?

No. There is no monthly subscription, no recurring fee, and no paywall. You pay once for The Bible Band and the daily content is free to access every day.

Does it need Wi-Fi or cellular data?

The band itself doesn't need Wi-Fi or data — but your phone will need an internet connection to load the daily devotion page after the tap. Most phones connected to any network will load it instantly.

How to Use The Bible Band

Walk me through how to use it.

  1. Put it on. Wear The Bible Band as you would any other wristband — as a daily reminder to keep God's Word close.
  2. Pick up your phone. Unlock your phone (NFC works best with the screen on).
  3. Tap. Hold your phone near the NFC chip on the band. For iPhone, use the top edge; for Android, use the center back.
  4. Look for the notification. Your phone will show a small banner at the top of the screen — a link to today's devotion page.
  5. Tap the notification. It opens the daily page in your browser.
  6. Read, listen, and pray. Today's Scripture, devotion, audio, large print, prayer, and reading plan are all right there.

Wear it. Tap it. Walk with God.

Can I listen instead of read?

Yes. Every daily devotion includes an audio version so you can listen rather than read. It's great for mornings, commutes, walks, workouts, or quiet time. Just tap the play button on the daily page.

Does the content change every day?

Yes. New Scripture, a new devotion, a new prayer, and updated reading plan content are available every day. Tap your band each morning to access that day's content.

Can I go back and read a past devotion?

Yes. Previous devotions are accessible on the website so you can catch up if you miss a day. We want you to stay rooted in the Word — not stressed about falling behind.

Troubleshooting

I tapped my phone and nothing happened. What do I do?

Don't worry — this is usually a quick fix. Try these steps in order:

  1. Make sure your screen is on and unlocked. NFC works best with the screen active.
  2. Try a different spot on your phone. For iPhone, tap the top edge. For Android, tap the center back. Move your phone slowly across the band.
  3. Remove your phone case. Thick, metal, or magnetic cases can block the NFC signal.
  4. Check that NFC is enabled. See the instructions below.
  5. Try again slowly. Hold your phone steady for 2–3 seconds rather than tapping quickly.

How do I turn on NFC on my iPhone?

On iPhone XS and newer, NFC is always on — no action needed.

On iPhone 7 or 8: Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center, tap the NFC icon, then tap your Bible Band.

How do I turn on NFC on my Android phone?

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Connections (or search "NFC" in the settings search bar)
  3. Tap NFC and Contactless Payments
  4. Toggle NFC to On

My phone case is thick. Will that be a problem?

It can be. Thin plastic or silicone cases usually don't interfere with NFC. However, thick cases, metal cases, or cases with built-in magnetic wallets can block the NFC signal. Try removing your case and tapping again — if it works without the case, your case is the issue. A thinner case without metal or magnets will solve the problem.

The notification appeared but nothing loaded when I tapped it.

Your phone likely needs an internet connection to load the page. Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or have cellular data available, then tap the band again to re-trigger it.

The Content

Who writes the devotions?

Every devotion is written by Pastor Clark Whitney — a real pastor, not AI. Clark is the founder of The Bible Band and an active pastor in South Arkansas with a Doctor of Education in Christian Leadership. The devotions are written with biblical faithfulness and genuine pastoral care.

What is the One-Year Bible Reading Plan?

The One-Year Bible Reading Plan is a free reading schedule included with every Bible Band. It walks you through the entire Bible over the course of one year with short, manageable daily readings. It's accessible from every daily devotion page — no sign-up required.

Is the content theologically sound?

Yes. The Bible Band content is written from a biblical, evangelical, Christ-centered perspective. Every devotion is grounded in Scripture, focused on the Gospel, and designed to help believers grow in their walk with God.

Can I use The Bible Band for family devotions or small groups?

Absolutely. Many families tap the band together, read the Scripture and devotion as a group, and pray through the prayer prompt together. Small groups, youth groups, and accountability partners can all use the same daily content as a shared point of connection.
