How to Use Your Bible Band

Getting started

Four Simple Steps

Your phone must be awake and unlocked before it can read the band. Once you find the right spot, the whole process takes only a few seconds.

  1. Wake & Unlock

Turn on your phone’s screen and unlock it. Most phones will not scan NFC tags from the lock screen.

  2. Find the Reader

Use the very top edge of an iPhone or the upper-middle back of most Android phones. Exact placement varies by model.

  3. Hold for 2–5 Seconds

Place the phone directly against the Bible Band and keep it still while your phone recognizes the NFC chip.

    Hold—don’t tap and pull away
  4. Open the Notification

When the website notification appears, tap it to open your fresh daily Scripture experience.

Where to Hold Your Phone

The NFC reader sits in a different place on each type of phone. Start with these positions and keep the band touching the phone.

iPhone

Use the Top Edge

Touch the very top edge of your iPhone to the Bible Band. Hold it there for 2–5 seconds until the notification appears.

Android

Use the Upper Back

Touch the upper-middle area on the back of your phone to the band. Some models read closer to the center.

Still searching for the reader? Keep the band touching your phone and slowly slide the top or back across it. Pause for a moment at each position.

Quick fixes

Having Trouble?

Most connection problems can be fixed in less than a minute. Work through these steps in order and try the band again after each one.

Remove the Case

Thick, metal, magnetic, battery, and wallet-style cases can block the NFC signal.

Move Slowly

Slide the phone across the band slowly until you find the exact reader location for your model.

Hold It Still

Keep the phone touching the band for a full 2–5 seconds. A quick tap may not register.

Unlock the Phone

Wake the screen and unlock your phone before scanning the Bible Band.

Check NFC

NFC is usually automatic on iPhone. On Android, make sure NFC is enabled in Settings or Quick Settings.

Try Another Phone

A second compatible phone can help confirm whether the issue is reader placement or the band itself.

Phone Compatibility

iPhone

iPhone XS and newer can scan in the background. Earlier NFC-capable iPhones may require the NFC Tag Reader from Control Center.

Android

Most modern Android phones with NFC are compatible. NFC may need to be turned on in your phone’s settings.

Internet

Wi-Fi or cellular data is needed to load the daily page after your phone reads the band.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an app or account?

No. There is no app, required login, or complicated setup. Tap the notification to open the daily experience in your phone’s browser.

Does the Bible Band need a battery or charging?

No. The NFC chip is powered briefly by your phone when you scan it, so there is nothing to charge or replace.

Can someone else tap my Bible Band?

Yes. Anyone with a compatible phone can tap your Bible Band. Use it yourself each day or share it with a friend who needs encouragement from God’s Word.

Does my phone need internet access?

Yes. The band itself needs no power or connection, but your phone needs Wi-Fi or cellular data to load the daily page after the tap.

Will my phone case block the signal?

Most standard cases work. Thick, metal, magnetic, battery, and wallet-style cases can interfere with NFC, so remove the case if your phone does not respond.

Is NFC safe?

Yes. NFC is the same short-range technology commonly used for contactless payments. The Bible Band chip only directs your browser to a webpage; it does not access your phone or track your location.
